High Quality and Low Costs Address Expatriate Reservations over Indian Healthcare, says Interdean

High Quality and Low Costs Address Expatriate Reservations over Indian Healthcare, says Interdean

The reaction follows a report in the Times of India detailing a new study placing India in the top three countries in Asia in terms of healthcare for expatriates, along with Thailand and Singapore.
The study was carried out by KPMG, world leaders in professional services, and Ficci (Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry). Named the Medical Value Travel, it detailed healthcare practices all over the Asian continent with a particular focus on the benefits available to the immigrant and expatriate populations.
A triumvirate of low cost treatment, high-quality healthcare infrastructure and an excess of top-level medical professionals are behind India’s strong performance in the survey. A cross-section of public sector stakeholders, domestic business leaders and CEOs of the country’s leading hospitals and medical institutes were asked to take part in order to compile a comprehensive set of results.
The healthcare sector in India has seen huge developments in recent years. Believed to be worth almost $80 billion in 2012, it is in keeping with the country’s ever-strengthening economy and is expected to rise at around 15 per cent every year. Experts believe that net worth could almost double, with a figure of $160 billion being forecast for 2017.
India has gained particular acclaim for its progress in cardiology, orthopaedics, nephrology, oncology and neuro surgery. This is in addition to the country’s existing reputation as a world leader in alternative treatment methods based around yoga and Ayurveda.
A spokesperson for Interdean, market leaders in international relocation, has released a statement following the study. ‘This new study, carried out by two of the most reputable organisations in their field, is a huge vote of confidence for the country’s healthcare system.
‘For those considering a move to India, this will be extremely pleasing news and will do much to dispel the myth that top-level healthcare is only the preserve of Western cultures. With the industry increasing in value at an impressive yearly rate, services in the sector will only continue to improve for the foreseeable future.’
